Who We Are
Four-Course Living is a curriculum of primary classes focused on helping individuals with disabilities discover the importance of nutrition, safety, planning, and preparation.
These classes are made available through the K-State Research and Extension Master Food Volunteer Program.
The curriculum was created by
Johnson County Extension
Master Food Volunteers:
Sherry Carter and Jean Porter.
Sherry taught Family and Consumer Science for 36 years in the Shawnee Mission School District
Jean taught special education and was a transition specialist in the Shawnee Mission School District.
Classes are taught by Johnson County Extension Master Food Volunteers who are provided Disability Awareness Training by Donna Beauchamp.
Donna is a parent and case manager for individuals with developmental disabilities.
Arcare, Inc. supports the program through its chartiable fund.

Our Philosophy
We created this curriculum to develop kitchen and food preparation skills to aid Special Needs Adults to successfully live independently. Our goal is to provide classes tailored to our students' individual needs so they may continue living a healthy, cost effective, and independent life.
